I'm not super happy that a merge affecting the codeowners and github stuff got merged without an approval from a lead as should have been required. This has broken several protections i put in place to avoid hard to debug errors without discussion

Understandable, however I think you may be proposing to revert the wrong commit.

9459b551e3 and 4cbd44e3a2 edited the CODEOWNERS file.
